Smash Mouth is a self-titled album, and the third offering from the like-named band, Smash Mouth. This album's release was delayed several months as a result of the untimely death of lead vocalist Steve Harwell's son, Presley Scott Harwell after a battle with acute lymphatic leukemia. Notably, it was the first album with new drummer Michael Urbano.
In the fall of 2000 the band held a contest on their website to name their this album. After a huge outpouring of suggestions from fans, there ended up being a two-way tie with the band chosing the suggestion of a self-titled album.
